TAKEAWAYS FROM YOU ARE ENOUGH BY CASSIE MENDOZA-JONES
I had the honour of attending Cassie Mendoza-Jones’ You Are Enough book launch in Sydney a couple of weeks back.
To be honest, this shy introvert hid in a corner for most of the event with my dear friend Kate (thank you, Kate!) and didn’t mingle much. In fact, apart from the superstar Cassie, I only reached out and introduced myself to one soul who I’d previously only ever met through the online world (hello, Kylie!).
There were other familiar faces in the room, but I wussed out of approaching them and saying “hi” (sorry guys, eek!). This is something that I’m getting better at, believe it or not, but I still obviously have a long way to go!
Now despite hiding away, I did soak up a whole lot of inspiration and takeaways from Cassie’s launch, that not surprisingly overlapped with some of the main themes of her wonderful book. I thought I’d share a few of these takeaways with you today – and at the end of the post, will give you an opportunity to win a free copy of You Are Enough.
Those big dreams are possible, when you take one step at a time
Cassie has dreamt of becoming an author since she was a little girl. When her friend Libby Babet officially launched the book at the event, she mentioned that over the six years she’d known Cassie, she had watched her consistently take one step at a time toward her big dream, firstly starting with launching a blog and business.
Take one step at a time might sound like it’s a simple message, but it is one that constantly comes up with my coaching clients. Sometimes, our big dreams or visions seem so far out of reach. Heck, sometimes we are so foggy, unclear and confused that we can’t even fully see what those big dreams are yet, let alone know what path or direction to take to get to them. I get that – I really do, I’ve been there.
But often, if we stop focussing on what we don’t know – and instead focus on what we do know – we will know enough to take one little step. And then when we keep doing this, a little bit more clarity comes, a little bit of fog lifts, and we gradually get clearer and do more than we think.
So if you have a big dream, or want to get clearer on your big dream, please get curious and take one step at a time.
You don’t have to be a jack-ass to succeed. Kindness can win.
Cassie’s MC Alison Morgan and Libby Babet both spoke about how much of a genuine, supportive and kind soul Cassie is. In fact, one of them mentioned that they had never ever heard Cassie say a bad word about anyone in the whole time she’d known them.
My own experience with Cassie is that she is not only compassionate, but a giver. A gentle, thoughtful and big hearted soul who reaches out and helps others.
We are sometimes taught that you need to be competitive and a little (or a lot) ruthless in order to survive and thrive in business or ‘climb the ladder’ in our careers. I call BS. This has not been my experience at all – and apparently Cassie has not needed to be this way to create the success she has today.
As Marie Forleo said in a recent episode of MarieTV: “Holding onto your heart never has to hold you back from success.”
You are enough
And finally, as the name of Cassie’s book reminds us, YOU ARE ENOUGH. You are already enough. And oh my, imagine how we’d do things differently if we truly accepted this.
In Cassie’s book, she obviously dives into this topic directly and deeply. She discusses the blocks we experience (including comparing ourselves to others) and how we can overcome them, releasing old attitudes and adopting more helpful mindsets, connecting to our inner guide and higher self, and creating an energetic toolkit (a similar concept to the emergency inspiration plan or emergency self care-first aid kit, but in the context of energy), and truly embracing yourself as you are.
There are so many more lessons that I could share from Cassie Mendoza-Jones’ and her feel-good book You Are Enough, but I think it is best that you get your hands on your own copy and soak up her wisdom first hand!
Let’s soar together,
